Rick Gordon has created this Flipbook. You can get a pretty good idea of the book from these excerpted pages — except the photos in the real book are a lot sharper than this. Boy, do people love this book. A bunch of people have said they can’t put it down.

Tiny Homes For The Homeless Built Out of Dumpster Garbage in Oakland, California

“Gregory Kloehn goes dumpster diving, but not for the reason that most people would think. He isn’t homeless. In fact, he is an artist from Oakland that is trying to help the homeless and develop his craft at the same time.

Instead of building sculptures that he would sell to rich people to add to their massive homes, he decided to focus his efforts on helping house the homeless population in California.…He uses what he collects to build small, one room shelters for the homeless.…”

Walking Home — Tiny Home

“WALKING HOUSE is a modular dwelling system that enables persons to live a peaceful nomadic life, moving slowly through the landscape or cityscape with minimal impact on the environment. It collects energy from its surroundings using solar cells and small windmills. There is a system for collecting rain water and a system for solar heated hot water.…”

Well if you say so. Looks like it would be right at home in Dwell magazine. A reminder: I put up stuff I find interesting, not that I necessarily like. The story behind this one is weird.

A Hotel Hooks up to The Tiny Houses Trend, Campfire Included.

” While some hotels trumpet the ample square footage of their guest rooms, others rely on quirky coziness to attract customers.

Yotel, for example, offers ship-cabin-inspired rooms at several European airports and operates a full-sized hotel filled with snug (170-square foot), extremely efficiently-designed rooms near Times Square in New York City. The chain plans to open another Yotel hotel on upscale Orchard Street in Singapore…”

Sun, Wind, Surf and Sauna All At Once

“Spring is a great time to be outdoors -the weather is warming up, but you still aren’t hit by the oppressive summer heat. Unfortunately, in most places, it’s still too cool to head over to your nearest natural body of water and take a dip. Of course, if you have a Saunalautta, you might not feel that way. That’s because the delightful creations feature a fully functional sauna so you can cool down and heat back up, or go the more traditional route and build up a good sweat before jumping into the the icy waters below…”

Rolling Buildings by Jason Maclean

From Sabrina Merlo at The Maker Faire:

“…Do you know Jason McLean – he’s just outside of Tomales (Marin County, California) on Two Rock Rd.  These aren’t very good pix, but he has a flock there of tiny houses on trailers that are awesome: https://jasonmcleanshop.com/rolling-buildings
