One of my most important rules of the road is to ask someone where’s a good place to eat. I asked guy in gas station in Ciudad Constitución, he thought for a minute, and said “Tacos Santana.” Easy to remember.
Sure enough, it was run by a sisterhood of strong competent friendly women. Was great to watch them work and interact with each other and customers.
My total bill for two delicious tacos de maiz al pastor, a large horchata (rice/almond drink), and a tootsie roll for desert, was under $7. I mean, it was a completely satisfactory dinner for some one who’s been sitting for four days.
In the USA, when I find myself in a nondescript, not obviously cool town, I ask where’s the best hamburger.
Question to those of the Instagram-savvy persuasion:
If I put up a good post, should I not post again for a while? I mean, I’ve got a shitpile of interesting photos stacking up. Also, I wonder if hashtags are worth the bother.
The moment I’d lay eyes on that place I’d slam on the brakes. Those benches and tables alone worked from discarded pallets would draw me in.
The ingenuity of creating something useful out of what is at hand is mind expanding.
Suerte.
Id say post more photos, your content is great. I love your perspective on life and that you are maturing with technology. People who have more followers use tons of hashtags. Whether or not they gain you the type of followers you want is something for debate i guess.
Thanks Again
I mean …… A suggestion Lloyd; Quit using the term “ I mean “ so much. It’s as bad as starting sentences with So …… Both are used way too much these days, and sound lame, like “ Valley Girl “ speak.
Hi Lloyd,
Please keep your Posts coming, I love anything you send from your shitpile, it’s encouraging to know what you are up to. I turn the big 80 this summer so you are my guiding light as to the possibilities still open to me at this tender age.
Gloria
Hi Lloyd, I am 54 and don’t care about hashtags so not sure if they work. But what I do know is that I love reading your posts, some short, some longer. They feel real. I love real encounters, observations and thoughts, regardless of the format, frequency or template. Just do whatever comes up.
Sometimes less is more, and sometimes more is less.
In this world we are flooded by news, pictures, newsletters, publicity, posts , etc from so many people, I try to slow down and actually dive into a book – as when I was 11. So sometimes I disappear and do not see emails for weeks… the real world is still more interesting. Love to see that you are traveling! Never been in Mexico. Maybe one day.
