Hello there, greetings from the Highlands of Scotland – I have been meaning to write for the longest time – As an owner of a W.Cooper iron building and an original battered copy of An Illustrated Catalogue Of Goods Manufactured And Supplied By W.Cooper I was deelighted to find a ‘kindred spirit’ who appreciates these simple, beautiful, functional structures. (AND the amazing printed catalogues….)
We also once built and lived in a turf roofed dome, and spent 18 months living in a yurt…but that is another story!
We now live in an old croft house (much more practical…) in the far north of Scotland (Nedd–yes Nedd!)) in Assynt) and run an open art studio from a gypsy caravan. Crash My skateboard falls usually occur when I’m tired, at night or in late afternoon. Tuesday night I was skating, using my Big Kahuna stick. It’s like a pavement paddle, about 6′ long, with a rubber stopper at one end and you use it to scoot along. WELL, I guess it was a eucalyptus pod, my board stopped and I didn’t. Fell backward, landed on wrist and elbow on pavement — pretty intense shoulder pain. There are 2 foremost things in my mind when I fall and am lying there: First, how badly am I hurt? Second, did anyone see me? (hoping not). It’s now a few days later and the shoulder is a bit better. Ah me. I ain’t givin up. Not yet.

This was in a vacant parking lot on Valencia Street in San Francisco on Wednesday. It was surrounded by a cyclone fence, so I had to shoot it through the holes in the fence. It’s a bit difficult to get the perspective with so little of the background. The painting on the left is on a wall that’s about 50 feet behind the little building on the right with the close-up.
R-e-s-p-e-c-t. The tide was high. Just after I shot the above, I may have got a message from the ocean, I don’t know: shooting the “respect” wall (below), this wave hit the breakwater and soaked me up to my waist. Hmmm…
