Postcard from a Prisoner

It’s great to connect with people in prison. These books give them something to hope for, ideas for things they can do for themselves once they get out.

We sent the two requested books yesterday.

(I whited out the prisoner’s full name here.)

Note: We continue to send books free of charge to any prisoner who so requests.

About Lloyd Kahn

Lloyd Kahn started building his own home in the early '60s and went on to publish books showing homeowners how they could build their own homes with their own hands. He got his start in publishing by working as the shelter editor of the Whole Earth Catalog with Stewart Brand in the late '60s. He has since authored six highly-graphic books on homemade building, all of which are interrelated. The books, "The Shelter Library Of Building Books," include Shelter, Shelter II (1978), Home Work (2004), Builders of the Pacific Coast (2008), Tiny Homes (2012), and Tiny Homes on the Move (2014). Lloyd operates from Northern California studio built of recycled lumber, set in the midst of a vegetable garden, and hooked into the world via five Mac computers. 1. That`s really great Lloyd. To connect with people in need of some real inspiration, plus this is a big opportunity to make a real positive change in somebody`s life and maybe point them in a better direction, this is a special thing.

  2. most likely you thought of this/have likely even when you long ago started this offer,
but it surely must be heart warming to you/yours, the ripple effect of your good deed.

your kindness is like a pebble tossed on still waters, ripples going on and on and on…….

  3. Hi Lloyd,
Reading that post card just brought a tear too my eye. I’m presently looking across the hills and forests of Hampshire in the uk and the idea of someone being constrained behind prison walls or even enduring another lockdown seems heartbreaking.

Thank you so much for helping others in the way you do. Your a true inspiration too both myself and my children.

    All our love

    Roo, fee and Theo
