I’ve been three weeks today nursing a rib injury. I’ve learned how to stifle sneezes, because if I don’t, it feels like a red-hot poker in the ribs. But today, a sneeze slipped through, and there was just a tinge of pain. Yahoo! The body does recover…
What with a damaged knee (lower body), and banged-up ribs (upper body), it’s been a grim month. I need exercise, and when it’s lacking, the brain and energy level are flagging. Today things felt a lot better.
Also, I got six pretty good page layouts of the tiny houses book done. Definitely rolling.
Fire on cold night last week
About Lloyd Kahn
Lloyd Kahn started building his own home in the early '60s and went on to publish books showing homeowners how they could build their own homes with their own hands. He got his start in publishing by working as the shelter editor of the
Whole Earth Catalog with Stewart Brand in the late '60s. He has since authored six highly-graphic books on homemade building, all of which are interrelated. The books, "The Shelter Library Of Building Books," include
Shelter,
Shelter II (1978),
Home Work (2004),
Builders of the Pacific Coast (2008),
Tiny Homes (2012), and
Tiny Homes on the Move (2014). Lloyd operates from Northern California studio built of recycled lumber, set in the midst of a vegetable garden, and hooked into the world via five Mac computers. You can check out videos (one with over 450,000 views) on Lloyd by doing a search on YouTube:
Glad to hear you're healing. I wish it was cold enough here for a fire, but I feel like I'm being slowly boiled. Good luck with the book.
yep, I stared at this picture and hoping it will get cool enough here in Illinois for a fire as well. hot hot hot….and steamy too. Grateful to hear you are healing and I sure have no excuse for not getting out and walking. I'll walk for you next week, okay?
har! Heal up. Enjoy your recently-found blog. Having inherited a small chunk of land in WA, the city boy is intrigued, perplexed and scared about the prospect of trying to afford a home (my deram) in a beautiful spot with little money and no talent. That's probably the equivalent of broken ribs (i just did one myself 2 weeks ago) and aging knees and wanting to exercise. I'll keep hope for some inspiration and luck or a friend with a clue! cheers!
