In December I mentioned that the cafe/coffee roastery at Small World Coffee in Princeton, NJ, did a name and logo for a new blend based on my surfing and skateboarding and I guess, long hair — calling it the Crispy Hippie roast. To tell the truth, I’ve never thought of myself as a hippie, although I guess I am compared to all my friends from high school and college who didn’t smoke dope, get immersed in rock and roll, and drop out (back in ’65). “I’m proud to be a hippie from Olema…” Small World owner Jessica Durrie just sent me this t-shirt.

Nice!
lloyd. you are hands-down the coolest dude.
It is funny who people think of as hippies. Here you are a well known publisher, but because you don't have a close cropped hairdo, don't wear a suit, button down shirt or have your initials on French cuffs, you're a hippie. I agree with Easy Tiger .. you are not only creative to the max as is Leslie, you both are cool to the max, that is for sure. ..
SWEEEEEET!
Speaking of smoking dope…In builders of the Pacific Coast you are revisiting Louie and you mention a homemade pipe and show a picture as well. Oh I was just wondering what was in it.
By the way that is the most addictive book I have ever known. It even has moved past Shelter as being the coolest book on the planet.

lloyd you give hippies agood name as do all your fantastic builders in your most amazing books, sooooo inspirational!!!!!!!Hippies are capable of work! Art, craft, imagination creative I really love yur work Thanks so much for all your travels
Lloyd I certainly do not think of you as a hippie…you are one of the most industrious and youthful people I know. The name was the product of a brainstorming session where your hair and a surf board or skate board just popped into my head, my graphics guy took it from there!
That last email you forwarded me certainly is proof of what a small world we truly live in and how closely connected we all are.
Hope to see you next time I am out visiting my dad. Lots of love xoxo Jessica
