Simon’s Hobbit House in Wales

“You are looking at pictures of a house that Simon Dale built for his family in Wales. It was built by him and his father in law with help from passers by and visiting friends. 4 months after starting they were moved in and cosy. He estimate 1000-1500 man hours and $5000 put in to this point. Not really so much in house buying terms (roughly £60/sq m excluding labour).…”

Tiny Houses Built From Hollowed Out Logs in 1800s

From the Tiny House Blog, worth checking often for anyone interested in the subjext:

“Zol Fox emailed me an interesting article showing some of the logging history of the Northwest and included in the email a couple of pictures of tiny houses built from hollowed out logs.

The size of the trees that were taken down in the Northwest 150 years ago is something impressive. We are not likely to see anything like this in this area ever again. Below I’ve shared a few of those photographs.” https://tinyhouseblog.com/tiny-house/tiny-houses-of-the-historic-northwest/

New video on natural builder SunRay Kelley

Lew discovered this. It stalls periodically, maybe something wrong in the encoding. We found it best to turn off sound and let it load. Once it’s in the cache, you can play it straight through. (Seems somehow fitting that that the electronic world gets garbled around SunRay, who is a magician of the natural world.

Inspired By… SunRay Kelley from Shwood Eyewear on Vimeo.

“Growing up in the wild hills of the Pacific Northwest, it seems like SunRay was always building something. His favorite source of inspiration and materials is the woods around him, “God’s Hardware Store” as he calls it. When working on a project it is not uncommon to see him pick up a saw and head off into the woods looking for the right piece of wood to present itself. If he says anything, he’ll mumble ‘I’m going shopping.’

Filmed by Gary Tyler Mcleod & Austin Will; Edited by Gary Tyler Mcleod”

MTV Meets SunRay Kelley

Here’s a film of master natural builder SunRay Kelleys homestead in Washington, as shown on MTV’s Extreme Cribs series. MTVs sound track sucks in  my opinion, seems like they’re trying too hard to be hip and peppy, but it’s a chance to meet SunRay’s daughter Kumara and see a bunch of his wild buildings. SunRay was featured in Builders of the Pacific Coast.
