TINY HOMES Second Printing

There were orders with our distributor Publishers Group West for 4,193 copies of the book in the first 8 days of February and we are going back to press right now, just a month after the book hit the bookstores.

First printing was 15,000, this one will be 12,500.

Hey I thought print books were supposed to be dead!

About Lloyd Kahn

Lloyd Kahn started building his own home in the early '60s and went on to publish books showing homeowners how they could build their own homes with their own hands. He got his start in publishing by working as the shelter editor of the Whole Earth Catalog with Stewart Brand in the late '60s. He has since authored six highly-graphic books on homemade building, all of which are interrelated. The books, "The Shelter Library Of Building Books," include Shelter, Shelter II (1978), Home Work (2004), Builders of the Pacific Coast (2008), Tiny Homes (2012), and Tiny Homes on the Move (2014). Lloyd operates from Northern California studio built of recycled lumber, set in the midst of a vegetable garden, and hooked into the world via five Mac computers. 1. Print books are NOT dead! I'm only 46 … but I refuse to succumb to the Kindle/Nook/electronic book. Just can't do it. I love turning pages. I love the smell of books. I want to see it & feel it, not stare at a screen that will give me a headache. I treasure books! SO glad I got a pre-order and one of the first copies … Lloyd, you're a legend … looking forward to meeting you soon & having you sign my Tiny Homes book and my "tiny" Tiny Homes book!

  2. My visitors all enjoy looking through your various books I have laying around. Tiny Homes is great and I am really looking forward to the next book and going mobile. Congrats on your well deserved success!

  3. Stop the press. You've probably already gotten this comment or noticed it on your own, but there's a layout error in one of the photos. I think it's page 28 (???) Center photo on the upper right side of the page. The little middle-aged woman illustrater/artists office/studio. (sorry for the vague description, I loaned the book to a friend, so I can't check the details right now.) The picture seems to be overlapped with a computer window or some other image.
As always, great work! I think you captured out times really well right now and have reflected something important about our current society. Keep em coming!

  4. I am from Europe Czech Republic and just got it from Amazon. Please listen to my 2 cents:-)

    – BOOK IS GREAT. I cannot imagine better way how to promote idea of cheap recycled nature friendly house than just to lay this book on the table and let it work itself. INCREDIBLE PIECE OF HOUSE PORN.

    – I prefer used books – it was not avalliable (who guess it 🙂 ) so
    – I prefer to buy as near the author as possible but your shipping is waayy bigger then amazons. I think Flat rate envelope costs about 10USD anywhere so probably there is better way how to send your books overseas. Anyway I hope you already got some substantial chunk of what I paid amazon instead you direct.
